News from Rickmansworth Liberal Democrats - Three Rivers, a Lib Dem Run Council

The planning application 15/2230/FUL for the redevelopment of the former Gas Works site in Wharf Lane was on the agenda of the TRD Planning Committee on Thursday, 21st January. The Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) refused the application and this was notified in a Decision Letter dated 3rd February, 2016. The principal reasons were (a) Detrimental overdevelopment (b) No provision made for affordable housing.

Liberal Democrats fight to protect Feed-in Tariffs

Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Energy and Climate Change Lynne Featherstone has tabled a fatal motion in the House of Lords against the Government cuts to Feed-in Tariffs. A Feed-in Tariff is a payment you can get if you generate your own electricity (eg with solar panels or a wind turbine) and you can also sell energy back to the grid.

We can now dispose of food waste in plastic bags into the food pods. The recycling plant has confirmed they can deal with this. We can also still use compostable liners, newspaper and corn starch bags. Loose food is accepted but not black bags. We hope this will encourage people to recycle more food and stop putting it in the refuse bin. Plastic bags are still not accepted in the recycling bins. ………………………………………………….. Before then 5 trees must be removed as their structural integrity is compromised because they have grown through and around the metal fencing. Trees within the play area will not be affect
