Liberal Democrat Cllr Ron Tindall Leads Bid to Replace "Unusable" Bridge
The footbridge over Hemel Hempstead's St Albans Road is high and there have been complaints from residents for a number of years that the elderly and those with mobility problems find the bridge difficult to use.
Local County Councillor Ron Tindall is looking into making the crossing over the busy A414 safer and easier for people who find it difficult to manage the long slopes up and down on either side.
In response to the many requests Ron has been receiving he has arranged for the County Council to carry out a feasibility study on providing a traffic light controlled pedestrian crossing over St. Albans Road to replace the footbridge.
Cllr Tindall said "The bridge has been in place for several decades but it is virtually unusable for disabled residents. In this day and age it is really no longer fit for purpose. The feasibility study I have ordered is the first step in the right direction.
I hope to be able to give residents an update later this year".
