"When I discovered that my GP surgery had run out of Flu Vaccine - help was near at hand," said Tring resident Nick Hollinghurst. "It wasn't till I asked my wife - who owned and managed Rosemarie Finch Chemist in Dunstable for over 25 years - that I found out that these days you can get a variety of treatments at your local community pharmacy."
The wheels of the bus go round and round - but not for much longer for some people without cars or those who cannot drive.
Jo Lucey is new to politics - but not new to the area. She has lived in Rickmansworth for most of her life and is making a name for herself in the fields of ethnomusicology, sound engineering and as a radio host. She is an accomplished musician, composes her own works and is skilled as a luthier i.e. someone who makes or repairs stringed instruments, e.g. guitars, violins or (originally) lutes. Jo's political motivation arises from her social experiences. She passionately believes that everyone should have the opportunities to develop themselves, their skills and their lives to the full. The Witney Parliamentary By Election saw a huge swing to the Liberal Democrats of 19.3% as the Conservative vote fell back from 60% in 2015 to 45% yesterday. If repeated across the UK a movement in support like this would mean a loss of 26 seats from the Conservatives to the Liberal Democrats. This would wipe out Theresa May's majority.
The basic unit of the Liberal Democrats is the Local Party, but local parties together are organised into regions - in our case the East of England Region.
Please note that extensive work is planned covering a stretch of about 2 miles of the B488 Icknield Way, Tring starting on 31st October, 2016. The length affected will stretch from the A41 Tring Bypass roundabout down to the New Mill roundabout. The work will be done in stages but it is likely there will be considerable disruption at times.
Government approval for a new 400 metre length of track in Tinsley, Sheffield, means that work can now go ahead to complete UK's first tram-train project.
Planning permission for the new Cambridge North Station, which is expected to handle 3,000 passengers a day in the north east of the city, was originally granted in 2013. However, when Cambridgeshire County Council, the original promoters of the new station, had to hand the project over to Network Rail, it was decided that a second planning application would have to made and the whole process repeated. Thie time taken to do this then led to the project being delayed further since it became entangled in various financial reviews. Altogether these administrative obstacles pushed the completion back by nearly three years
