Network Rail Prefers Central Corridor for East-West Rail Route
It seems that the East-West Rail rebuild is to go via the Bedford-Sandy-Cambridge corridor.
After looking at 20 alternatives Network Rail has made a decision for the routing of the Central Section.
This route is considered to provide the best return on investment.
Work has already been underway on the Western Section for two years now.
However there are indication that this scheme will now be delayed for up to seven years and whereas it used to feature as one of the UK's top three rail projects - it no longer does.
