Jo Lucey

Jo Lucey is new to politics - but not new to the area. She has lived in Rickmansworth for most of her life and is making a name for herself in the fields of ethnomusicology, sound engineering and as a radio host. She is an accomplished musician, composes her own works and is skilled as a luthier i.e. someone who makes or repairs stringed instruments, e.g. guitars, violins or (originally) lutes.

Jo's political motivation arises from her social experiences. She passionately believes that everyone should have the opportunities to develop themselves, their skills and their lives to the full. Where accident, illness or other disadvantages reduce people's life chances society should find practical ways to give them a helping hand.

Jo was recently selected as the Liberal Democrat Candidate for the Rickmansworth East & Oxhey Park Division in the Hertfordshire County Council elections in May 2017.

She said,

"It is an honour to stand for the chance to represent you in Rickmansworth East & Oxhey Park. I have many years' experience working as a care assistant locally and have seen first-hand the disastrous Tory cuts and their effect on some of the most vulnerable in society. I also feel this ensures I stay in touch with local issues and the needs and aspirations of the electors. I will not let myself be distracted by events inside the 'political bubble'.

I am a firm believer in equal opportunities for all and in making sure no section of society is left behind. If you, too, believe in these things and feel there is a better way that we can follow, then please support me in my campaign to be your next Herts County Councilor in May 2017."
