Tring, Northchurch and Berkhamsted Urban Transport Plan: Speed Management B4635

Aylesbury Road (B4635) is one of the two main routes into Tring from the A41 bypass. The other main route is the London Road (B4635), the main southern route into Tring from the A41 bypass. At the entrance to Tring for both these routes, the speed limit reduces from the National Speed Limit to 30mph. Speeding is an issue along this road as vehicles do not not slow down before the residential areas.

The Urban Transport Plan has as its basis the need to promote, implement and support a series of smarter measures to encourage the use of sustainable alternatives to private car travel for residents and visitors. This is achieved by providing the necessary infrastructures and services to enable people to make informed travel choices. However, education and promotion of the alternatives to car travel will also play a part in the overall scheme.

Charity Left Guessing Over Funding - LibDem Mark to the rescue!

When Hertfordshire County Council planned its review of Children's Centres and other organisations that work with these families. It said any funding arrangements would cease at the end of March 2014. The charity that does most in this area across the County is Home Start, whose volunteers support individual families with young children in managing their day to day affairs until they are confident that they can stand on their own two feet. Home Start depend significantly on the grant they receive from HCC. By the start of this week all the 10 Branches across Hertfordshire were getting seriously concerned about their funding after April 2014 and the manager of Home Start Watford was emailing councillors for help.

Energy Act to Create 200,000 Green Jobs – Ed Davey

The Energy Act, pushed through by Liberal Democrat Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Davey has received Royal Assent. The package of measures put in place by the law will support the creation of 200,000 jobs in the renewable energy sector including wind farms, solar and biomass.

News from Rickmansworth Liberal Democrats

The local Fire Service has now settled into the new duty system which provides the same 24hr emergency cover but with considerable cost saving. The fire fighters now work 12hr active duty, 8.00am - 8.00pm, and are then on call for the next 12hrs from the new building on site. During active working hours they carry out practical and technical training, community fire safety and equipment maintenance. During their on call hours their time is their own.
