Kingsley Green - A New Mental Health Hospital Takes Shape

5 Feb 2014
NHS Sign

Kingsley Green is a new 86-bedded facility for mentally ill patients, now nearing completion on the old Harperbury Hospital site. There will be in-patient services for patients with functional disorders (ie not linked to an identifiable physical cause) including special facilities for those who are frail in addition to suffering with these conditions. These groups of patients can be some of the most distressed. A secure reception area is provided for those who have had to be admitted under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act.

Acute care is also available for patients with learning disabilities.

Within the new buildings there will be a pharmacy, a cafe, a socialising area, an ECT suite (replacing five others in Hertfordshire) and two bedrooms for patients relatives.

It is expected that the first block will be receiving patients from June 2014 and the second from September 2014
