Tring’s Orchard Children’s Centre Going from Strength to Strength

Newly re-elected Hertfordshire County Councillor for Tring & the Villages, Nick Hollinghurst, is a member of the Orchard Children's Centre's Governance Group and attended yesterday's Governance Meeting in Dundale Primary School, Silk Mill Way, Tring. The centre has become an important community hub within the area.

Tring Town Mayor at First Birthday of Café "Le Moulin" at New Mill Baptist Church, Tring

Thursday 9th May saw the ground floor hall at the New Mill Baptist Church filled with a greater than usual number of people who had called in for lunch and the company of their friends. This particular day was the first anniversary of the setting up of a regular Thursday lunchtime café by the Minister, Mr Andrew Openshaw and his wife Kate. Called "Le Moulin" (the Mill), a name which combines a reference to the location as well as to their years working in Northern France, the café offers a variety of hot meals and snacks as well as excellent Fairtrade tea and coffee and delicious homemade cakes.

People who have to care for elderly relatives - often their own parents - in addition to the demands of work and family life are to receive training in care techniques and an entitlement to help, such as respite holidays. Councils will have to assess what support carers need. Everyone will be offered advice and guidance and means-tested financial assistance to pay for services will be available to those who qualify.

Cambridge Station

£4.25 Million to be Invested in Cambridge Station Improvements

A property development scheme partly using railway land and aimed at providing more than 1,000 student units - the so-called CB1 Development - has generated significant funds to improve Cambridge Station. £4.25 million has been released by Brookgate, the Cambridge based company behind CB1, as part of a land deal with Network Rail and a 3-way agreement between Brookgate, Network Rail and Cambridge City Council.
