Resurfacing work, carried out on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, will begin on the A4251 High Street and the A4251 Tring Road, Berkhamsted on 30 July.

The £110,000 scheme to repair the worn-out road surface will be carried out between 8pm and 5am, using full road closures. It is expected that the work will take four nights to complete.

Signed alternative routes will be in place. Further details about the works, including road closure and diversion information, will be available on www.hertsdirect.org/roadworks

Access for residents and businesses with no alternative route to their premises will be maintained. This will be controlled by gatemen and vehicles will be allowed to enter the site only when it is safe to do so. Some alternative access will be available via local routes or the main diversion route.

The work is weather dependent and from time to time unforeseen circumstances can arise and work may continue outside the advertised hours. Any changes to the proposed start date, duration or working hours will be announced on the information boards on site and will be available at www.hertsdirect.org/roadworks

Bus service routes will also be affected by these works - for details of any changes you can visit www.intalink.org.uk - and look in the 'service disruptions' section.

The picture does not show equipment actually used by Ringway, HCC's new contractor, but it is a metaphor for the slowness of HCC's response to highway repairs.
