Why not help people to help themselves with handy salt bins on hilly roads?

Right across the county this winter, the Liberal Democrats have been fighting the Conservatives to try to get new salt bins and support residents with self help.

County Councillor Nick Hollinghurst, Tring and The Villages, said "I'm not the only person to have raised concerns about the state of our roads and the lack of salt bins in Hertfordshire. I've been fighting to try and get new bins provided where there are hilly roads or pavements that are susceptible to freezing.

Perversely the Conservative administration have stated that they will not support any new salt bins on County property whilst at the same time allowing councillors to purchase bins with their locality budgets, provided it doesn't look like it's anything to do with the highway.
