West Coast Woe at Watford with Work at Weekends - Five Holiday Weekend Closures Planned
Network Rail is undertaking an £81m scheme to tackle the most common causes of delay to rail services. However, while this work is underway 8 miles of track through Watford will have to be blocked.
Network Rail will install 175km of new fencing to stop farm animals getting onto the line, discouraging trespass and helping to reduce cable theft.
They will renew all the signalling between Kings Langley & Bushey, renew overhead line equipmentand and lay over 9 miles of new track.
Between Watford and Euston, new junctions will be installed to link the West Coast Mainline to London Overground lines. In the future this will allow train services to continue running while maintenance takes place.
Finally, Platform 10 at Watford Junction will be modified to allow longer trains to be accomodated.
