Tring, Northchurch and Berkhamsted Urban Transport Plan: Speed Management Brook Street

20 Jan 2014
30mph

Brook Street is a main through route for north and south travelling vehicles. In addition it is a signposted route for both Icknield Way Industrial Estate and Ivinghoe to the east. The speed limit between Tring High Street and Icknield Way is 30mph with many side roads providing access to residential areas and community facilities. However speed management is needed due to the vehicle speeds recorded.

The UTP suggests the introduction of Vehicle Activated Sign Roundels (VASR) located in both directions on the approach to the junction with Shugars Mill Lane.

In addition 'Ripple Print' material is suggested within the 30mph zone at each end of Brook Street. Ripple Print is a gentle corrugation 'printed' on the road surface which combines the benefits of a rumble strip without the associated noise to nearby residents. Internal noise and vibration are retained within a vehicle, but external noise is low.
