Tring & Berkhamsted Liberal Democrats Meet in Tring to Greet New Members
Earlier in the year, the Tring and Berkhamsted Branches of the West Herts Liberal Democrats successfully merged in order to streamline admin and efficiency - just as a wave of new members joined.
The first Branch AGM was held in Tring at the end of October and it gave everyone an opportunity to meet the new arrivals.
The meeting elected Andrew Horton as Chair and several new members joined the committee. In the interests of inclusivity the committee adopted the twin principals of Flexibility and Job Sharing that will ensure the formal structures can respond rapidly to change and encourage the sharing of skills and responsibilities with newly joined members.
Relatively new to Berkhamsted, but with a wealth of experience within the Liberal Democrats elsewhere, was Nigel Taylor, who joined the committee with a view to job sharing a key admin role.
Nigel aspires to stand in May 2017 for the Berkhamsted Division of Hertfordshire County Council and has already submitted his application to do so. This awaits endorsement by the local party members in due course, but Nigel is already studying the local political scene and becoming familiar with the Conservatives' poor track record of governance and effectiveness on Berkhamsted Town Council, on Dacorum Borough Council and, of course, on the County Council itself.
