The clocks sprung forward and Adeyfield West got a “Great British Tidy Up”!
Liberal Democrats' six-strong Sunday team covered a route from the footbridge over the A414 (Lower Yott) to The Queen's Square, taking a Sheepcote Road detour via the back of Broadfield School and passing The Driftway sheltered housing scheme, before heading to the shops along
Sawyer's Way.
Dacorum Clean Safe and Green provided litter-pickers and bags, as part of The Great British Tidy Up; in all, the LibDem team collected 5 large bags of litter and 8 bags of recyclables.
Councillor Adrian England was pleased with the results and appealed for more volunteers next time:
"We cleared the "going home" route from Jarman, got into some of the hedges to pull out the cans and plastics near the school. Unlike last year we didn't retrieve any fly-tipping this time, nor any items of underwear!!"
Lib Dems in Adeyfield are exploring ways to save on litter clear-up spending, in order to recycle those DBC resources towards protecting the ward's Adventure Playground from cuts and deter any thoughts of closure.
