Sally Symington to Represent Liberal Democrats in South West Hertfordshire
A Local Councillor, Sally Symington, has been selected as the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for South West Hertfordshire
With the sudden prospect of an imminent election the party has recently had to move fast to ensure that, right across Great Britain, a full slate of candidates is in place to fight a General Election should one arise over the coming months.
James Davies, the Chair of the Executive Committee of West Hertfordshire Liberal Democrats Local Party, which includes the two parliamentary constituencies of South West Hertfordshire and Hemel Hempstead, said, "I am pleased to announce that Sally Symington has been selected as the Parliamentary Candidate for South West Hertfordshire".
Sally Symington is an experienced campaigner and a previous Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate.
Sally has been a local resident for over 22 years and is a Dacorum Borough Councillor for Berkhamsted West. She is well known in the community through her work as a volunteer, a charity trustee and parent of four children. A former financial manager with a Masters Degree in Public Policy, Sally has been deeply involved with the Liberal Democrats for the last 10 years and helps co-ordinate the party's activity across the county.
Sally is delighted to have the opportunity to put fairness and Liberal Democrat values at the forefront of British politics.
She is working to stop Brexit and to ensure that funding public services and tackling the climate emergency will be at the heart of everything she does for the people of South West Herts.
With the Conservatives split under Boris Johnson's disastrous leadership, and Labour dissolving into chaos under Jeremy Corbyn, the Liberal Democrats with Jo Swinson as their new Leader, are now the Party best placed to win the seat of South West Herts.
Sally says, "The Liberal Democrats control the three local councils of Three Rivers, Watford and now St Albans. The Liberal Democrats hold 60% of all council seats within the constituency. It will be a tough fight but we should win - and the Liberal Democrats have a realistic chance of success of forming the next Government under Jo Swinson."
Local Party Chair, James Davies concluded, "We want to thank everyone for their continuing hard work and support which will give Sally the best chance of being elected. In the current political climate we have a realistic chance of success - so let's do our best to defeat the Conservatives who have broken and humiliated our country. Let's bring votes in for Sally, elect a Liberal Democrat MP here in South West Herts and take back control of the UK from the right wing fanatics who are set to ruin the future for our children and grandchildren."
