For years children have had to take their lives into their own hands, trying to cross the road from Highfield to Adeyfield to go to school.

However, thanks to pressure put upon the County Council by Lib Dem Councillor Ron Tindall, a new pedestrian crossing is now being constructed.

Cllr Ron Tindall said,

"It has taken over two years of negotiation with the County Council to get them to recognise the need for a crossing in Hemel on Queensway near Great Road but, after the Council realised how many school children crossed at that point, the need was understood."

Ron continued,

"This crossing could save lives. I continue to work on getting other road safety measures across the area I represent. It takes time, due to budget cuts, but that's why I never give up."
