You probably know that the Time Team have recently visited Northwood Prep School, the site of the 16C Royal Palace where Katherine of Aragon is thought to have lived for a while and it was associated with Cardinal Wolsey and Henry VIII. There have been some new finds, including a silver coin from 1413, ornate Dutch tiles, bones etc. The Team think there is evidence that there were buildings there from the early 12C, and that the palace was more extensive than previously thought. The TV programme is scheduled for next spring, exact date not yet known.

At the end of April, sixteen TRDC officers spent a team building morning doing maintenance work on canal Lock 81, Rickmansworth. This was to assist the Rickmansworth Waterways Trust prepare the area for the Festival. The weather was appalling but they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. British Waterways own the canal and surrounding land but in recent years the Trust has taken on responsibility for this area where their visitor centre is. If anyone wishes to learn more about volunteering round the canal contact Fabian Hiscock. He can be contacted through the Canal Centre on 01923 778382.
