LOCAL HIGHWAYS MEETINGS ABOLISHED.
We are very disappointed that HCC has decided to abolish the regular local highways meetings. Residents will no longer be able to attend, present petitions, hear how their money is being spent. We believe this is undemocratic and a loss of open government. If HCC does not change this decision we will promote regular meetings for discussion and information and debate about local highways issues inviting HCC highways officers, county and district councillors, local residents and residents' associations to attend.

CARAVAN LANE FOOTPATH ( from the east end of the High Street to Croxley Old Barn) has been closed for some time because of building works. It has now been re-opened but its condition is appalling for pedestrians. TRDC has raised this with the Rights of Way Dept.(HCC)

BIKE WEEK was a success in spite of the weather. Over 100 cyclists, friends and families, cycled to the Aquadrome on 23rd June. Over 40 joined the Spokes SWHerts Cycling Group on a 3 hour ride to Denham Country Park. Others took advantage of the free security tagging and cycle safety checks.

MANOR OF THE MORE: following the discovery of sizeable chunks of ornate masonry and other items found during the recent Time Team dig at the site (now the playing fields of Northwood Prep School) it is thought that the Manor of the More was a more substantial building than the other Tudor royal palaces of Hampton Court and Nonesuch. The carved stems, leaves banded scrolls etc. are of the Italianate Classical style of early 16C and very similar to the gatehouse to the Chateau of Gallion in Northern France. The TV programme next year will be very interesting.

HIGH STREET WEST DRAINAGE. We have asked repeatedly when this work, to reduce the flooding, will take place. We were recently told it would start on June 30th and finish about 13th July. It may have started, but we can see no sign of it !
