Serves U Right -Some Good News. At long last we have had a response from the person managing the premises, and he has agreed to our request to clear up/clean up the front of the shop which has looked really scruffy for months. We are told this work will be done next week ! Could this have anything to do with the planning application on these premises, 151 High Street and 149 next door, to change the use from Class A1 (shop) to Cl.A3 restaurant and café ? The application is 15/2536/FUL and can be seen on Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) website.

……………………………………………………

TRDC is well aware of the broken glass lying around the High Street outside the Pennsylvania PH and around the bus shelter over Christmas. The relevant Enforcement Officers have made it very clear to the PH manager that glasses should not be allowed outside the PH and that it is the responsibility of the PH to enforce this. Failure to deal with this problem could lead to a review and amendments of the licence conditions

.…………………………………………………….

TRDC has received a pre-application submission for the Travis Perkins site which includes retaining Travis Perkins in a new warehouse building with open storage, a new 88 bed hotel with parking and parking for allotment holders, boaters and anglers at the far end of the site. The proposal seeks the Council's policy views and those of the Environment Agency and the HCC Highways officers .This is not a planning application but is likely to result in a planning application later in the year.

………………………………………………

TRDC Youth Council has £1000 pa to distribute to local groups or organisations that provide services / facilities to local young people. The decision about where the grants should be allocated are made by the young people.

If you know a group/organisation that is interested in applying they should get a form from www.threerivers.gov.uk and return it by 29th January.

The WRVS is giving up its building in Bury Lane. TRDC owns the land, the WRVS leases the land and the building is theirs but it reverts to TRDC if they give up the lease which they intend to do, planning to move to the Mill End Community Centre in the spring. TRDC has not asked or expected the WRVS to move.

…………………………………………………….

In 2014 TRDC won a grant from Royal Opera House Bridge organisation to produce a programme to connect young local people with art and culture. It lasted a year and was a great success, working with hard to reach 14-19 yr. olds, involving them with a number of skilled artists and leaders from film, music, dance, theatre and photography. It achieved more than 400 attendances and developed a various life skills as well as artistic awareness and development.

Time and Tide is the next exhibition at Artistsmeet (Watersmeet). It is amazing flotsam tapestries by Jo Atherton hand woven from materials gathered on British beaches. 19th January to 26th February. More information can be found at www.flotsamweaving.com
