West Hyde Victory. A group of us from West Hyde and Maple Cross have just returned from County Hall. We went to speak out against the Pynesfield gravel extraction planning application and to try and persuade HCC to refuse it .We spoke out against the destruction of the green belt, the environmental damage, flooding and increase in HGVs. We succeeded - only one member of the HCC voted in favour. Hurrah!…………………………………………………..

The Annual Rickmansworth Festival end was fantastic. Congratulations and thanks to all those involved. It was splendid to see so many people/ families enjoying themselves. Well Done!

Have you any unwanted electrical items lurking around in the attic or under your bed ? You can take them to Wigginhall Road depot between 10am and 3pm on Saturday 18th June. Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) is working with WEEE Stop a company that provides an innovative solution for electrical recycling needs - anything with a plug or batteries - from a washing machine to a pocket calculator. Electrical items should be disposed of at events such as these or at your local household waste recycling centre. Give them a new lease of life, conserve raw materials and prevent hazardous material such as lead or mercury from entering landfill sites. Such events can attract 50,000 kilograms of waste electrical and electronic equipment which might otherwise have been land filled at the taxpayer's expense. To find out more about recycling in TRDC please visit www.threerivers.gov.uk

You can see the opening of the Rickmansworth Festival by the new Chairman Andrew Scarth on a video I produced for TRDC here https://youtu.be/-RHWjfvHxw4 Full length versions are in the process of being edited and will appear in later newsletters.
