The Government is considering scrapping some of the planning regulations controlling the erection of giant phone masts. One of our readers has come back to us with helpful information and a suggestion. There is a government review of the Code of Best Practice on Mobile Network Development. If you are concerned write to Brandon Lewis MP to seek reassurance that the new Code will include proper local consultation with local councils and communities, to find the least harmful/intrusive sites for these masts. Contact Brandon Lewis MP, Minister of State for Housing and Planning, Dept. of Communities and Local Government, Fry Building, 2 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DF or brandon.lewis@communities.gsi.gov.uk

Be aware of copycat websites overcharging for government services. There have been reports of disabled residents paying £49 for Blue Badges which cost £10 direct from HCC. People searching for access to blue badges, duplicate birth and marriage certificates, holiday visas, congestion charge payments etc can easily end up on a copycat site. Always start searching at gov.uk for any official documents.
