Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) is delighted to report that the prestigious national Green Flag Award has yet again been awarded to the Aquadrome, Chorleywood House Estate and Leavesden Country Park. The scores for the Aquadrome have increased this year to the maximum possible in all the aspects being judged. The award recognises the best parks and green spaces across the country. It is a sign that our TRDC public open spaces have very high standards, are well maintained and have excellent facilities. Thanks to TRDC staff and volunteers.

It has been pointed out that collections from local post boxes are being reduced so post is delayed. There is concern that this may be the first step in reducing the number of boxes. Any views or information ?

We have been asked why we were relieved ( comment last week ) that the appropriate parliamentary committee has taken the view that the case for a Hillingdon tunnel for HS2 has not been made convincingly. The Council do not support the HS2 project because we think it is unlikely to achieve the stated aims, has very significant environment impacts and a huge cost. We know some people disagree but locally we must consider the details and impact on this area. Hillingdon admits that its tunnel proposal would have a dire impact on part of Three Rivers, all the advantages would benefit Hillingdon and the disadvantages would be suffered by West Hyde and Maple Cross. These disadvantages include bringing all the spoil (c.1,000,000 cubic metres) from the tunnel to West Hyde, spreading some on the land and transporting the rest along our local roads, contamination, huge traffic problems, significant extra work in the local compounds, and noise. Also Hillingdon claimed to have consulted TRDC and informed local residents. This is not correct, we were not consulted and knew nothing about it until the plan was published.
