Hertfordshire County Council is encouraging drivers to think about the benefits of sharing their journeys to work as part of last week's National Liftshare initiative (7 - 11 October).

# Reduce the costs of fuel and parking

# Cut congestion and pollution

# Reduce the stress of driving

The free Herts Liftshare scheme helps link drivers up with other people living or working in Hertfordshire who are making the same journey and would be willing to car share.

County Councillor, Nick Hollinghurst (Tring and the Villages) said "Just think, if everyone shared their journey to work on just one day a week there would be ten percent less traffic on the roads, very similar to the difference between school term and holidays. And a hands on direct benefit to the environment."
