My Personal Statement
On Thursday, your vote will count! I hope you and many others will go to the polling station and cast your vote for who you think will make the best MP for Hemel and the Villages. If you have already voted by post then thank you.
Hemel Hempstead is not a marginal seat, you are not bound by tactical voting here. So please vote for the best person, not to stop the worst one. Let hope not fear decide who you vote for.
A vote for me is an investment in the future of Hemel and the Villages. I am in this for the long haul, there is no risk of me retiring next time nor am I using this as a practice run for a safe seat. I am Hemel born & bred and only want to get elected here.
I am a front line youth worker in the area, I see and hear daily the problems people face through my work with teachers, parents and young people.
The four policies that are most important to me affect all of Hemel and the Villages:
Mental Health - access to mental health is poor, I want to campaign for faster treatment and for mental health to be taken as seriously as physical health.
Youth Services - I want our young people to have meaningful activities to do and have access to safe and creative spaces.
Climate Crisis - Hemel isn't going to go underwater due to rising sea levels, but we are already seeing issues with lack of water in our rivers. I want our area to enable people to become greener, more electric car charging points, greater public transport, better rural transport options, eco-friendly homes.
Local Economy - I want to support local businesses, encourage job growth and increase training links between business, schools and colleges.
A vote for me is an investment in the future for all of us.
Thank You.
Sammy Barry, Liberal Democrat Candidate for Hemel Hempstead
