Tring is celebrating the 700th anniversary of Edward II granting a charter to become a market town - this was a significant step that led to the prosperity of the town today.

At the time, a two week fair was held - and in 2015 a period of celebrations to match has been organised - from June 27th to July 5th, there will be a wide range of events including the annual carnival - all celebrating Tring 700.

Throughout the year there will be many other events.

The Tring Carnival week runs from Thursday 25 June to Sunday 28 June and the highlight is the Tring Carnival Day 2015 on Saturday 27th June 2015, noon - 5pm in Pound Meadow. This year it has a medieval theme to tie in with the Tring Charter 700 celebrations and the High Street parade (11.30am from Bishop Wood School) will feature hundreds of children in medieval costume. There will also be a crowd pulling medieval re-enactment group who are setting up camp in Pound Meadow and will be demonstrating falconry, archery and combat skills. There will be a large beer tent, a display of vintage cars, a dog show, a children's free activity area, a camera club display in the marquee and a large arena full of entertainment provided by local groups all afternoon long. Up to 5,000 people are expected to attend.
