"Hey, 'Clean, Safe and Green'! Where's Ya Bin?" asks Tring Liberal Democrat Nick Hollinghurst
Dacorum Borough Council has a department that is optimistically called "Clean, Safe and Green". One of their responsibilities is to empty the Dog Dirt Bins and dispose of the excrement.
Apart from the matter of unsightliness and fouling there is a clear public health issue here.
A number of parasitic worm diseases can be contract from dogs, including Toxocara canis and Echinococcus granulosis.
The dog dirt bins are a valuable service to dog owners that they and other members of the public appreciate.
It was a pity therefore to find a Dog Dirt Bin at the end of Grove Road, Tring, completely full. Not a pretty sight!
Actually there was no smell - Herts County Councillor Nick Hollinghurst is shown hereholding his nose just to illustrate his natural disgust!
Apart from not emptying the bins on time, DBC also need to address the issues of (a) more bins needing to be added to their schedule and (b) the need to move some bins that are not in the right places.
