Greener, Cheaper, Better - Energy Efficiency Fund to Help NHS Save £ Millions
As part of a drive to cut costs and save energy, the Coalition Government has established a multi-million pound fund to be shared across nearly 70 NHS hospitals.
The £50 million fund will be aimed at the replacement of old and inefficient heating and lighting systems using businesses local to each hospital to do the work.
It is estimated that overall £13.7 million can be saved every year, reducing energy by 200 million kilowatts and reducing CO2 emissions by 5.6 million tonnes each year too.
Such savings could pay for 2,300 hip replacements.
