Last year Berkhamsted Liberal Democrats had remarkable success in the Berkhamsted East Town Council By-Election. Then their voting share was 42% against only 28% for the Conservatives.

Last week the Liberal Democrats made huge progress and came very close to winning again in a second Town Council By-Election, this time in Berkhamsted West.

Although the Conservatives managed to retain the seat, their lead over the Liberal Democrats was slashed to one third of what it was before.

The results are given below. Note however, that the last time this ward was fought it was as part of the Dacorum Brough Council elections in 2011 when only the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives stood. This time of course, there were 5 candidates.
