Economic Growth at 11-Year High
Latest reports show that Britain's economic prospects are the brightest that they have been in over a decade.
According to two major business lobby groups, the CBI and the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), the UK economy has reached a record high this month.
Optimism among consumers has risen to its best level in nine years. The CBI said that its survey of more than 700 firms showed the economy growing at its fastest pace since its records began in 2003. Meanwhile, the BCC upgraded its growth forecast for 2014 from 2.8% to 3.1%, which would be the highest since pre-crisis 2007.
The German retail and consumer research group, Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung (GfK)'s regularly carries out consumer confidence index measurements in a number of leading economies. The most recent shows a rise of three points this month to 0 - which shows the UK finally breaking through into positive territory for the first time since 2005.
These independent reports show that the Liberal Democrats' long-term plan to build a stronger economy is working. Liberal Democrats in government have worked to create sustainable growth by improving cost of living, investing in key sectors and helping business create more jobs.
