Crossing Installation Works are scheduled to be carried out under a Road Closure on the B488 Icknield Way between the New Mill Roundabout and the junction with Dundale Road. The work is timed to take place between 0930 and 1600 as necessary on Monday 13th March or thereafter.

Please note that the ability to carry out this work depends on the weather and might have to be postponed if it is too cold or wet.

The official diversion route for heavier vehicles will be down Aylesbury Road, High Street, Brook Street and Wingrave Road.

However, emergency vehicles will still have access and where and when possible access to homes and businesses will be maintained though likely to be subject to details depending on the progress of the works. Wherever and whenever possible local residents will be guided through to their premises if possible.

Hertfordshire County Council recognises that this is likely to be very disruptive and apologises but thanks the public in advance for their understanding and co-operation during this essential work.

Please refer to the yellow signboards for exact timings and please bear in mind these may need to be changed depending on the weather.

Please note that although the Temporary Closing Order will run forom 13th March, 2017 for a period of 18 months the road will only actually be closed at times indicated by signs on or near the road and will only be closed when necessary for the work to be carried out. There may need to be more that one period of closure.

This order is still subject to legal confirmation.

Historical note: the Icknield Way is one of our oldest roads and dates from the New Stone Age about 4,000 years ago.
