Charter 700 - See the Tring Charter In Person
As a fitting finale to the year's 700th anniversary celebrations, the Charter itself is coming to Tring for the very first time! The frail and ancient document, which is cared for amongst the country's priceless historic treasures at The National Archives at Kew, is to be brought here on loan for a very short period.
The Charter can be seen at Tring Local History Museum in Brook Street between 10 am and 3.30 pm, and 6pm - 8pm on Friday 27th, and on Saturday 28th November between 10am and 3.30pm (and again the following weekend - Friday 4th and Saturday 5th December.
The Museum, run by volunteers, is free of charge to visit but a donation is requested.
The Charter will be displayed in a brand-new showcase which has been purchased thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund. The new case, which will enable the Museum to consider similar 'high-status' displays in future, is seen as one of the long-term legacies of the whole Charter 700 event.
