A Start Made on New Automatic Doors for Tring Community Centre

Tring CC New Doors

On Saturday 4 August work was going with a swing at the Tring & District Community Centre in Silk Mill Way.

It was high time that the doors should be replaced and because of the increasing numbers of elderly people using the centre, some of whom are in wheelchairs the decision was to fit automatic ones.

In the picture you see Cllr John Bowden who acted as Project Manager for the expensive and complex job of raising finance, selecting a suitable design and getting everything ready for the installation.

The money came partly from the Community Centre's own resources and from Dacorum Borough Council with top-up funding from Herts County Council.

John has now moved on to being the Clerk of Works and no doubt will have a snagging list next week for the Contractors to put right! As of Saturday lunchtime, however, the basic operation of the doors seemed to be just fine.
