A Creditable Performance for Liberal Democrat Chris White in Herts Police & Crime Commissioner Elections

7 May 2016

Despite a low key campaign as the Lib Dem party concentrated on several important local authority elections across the county, Lib Dem Herts County Councillor, Chris White nevertheless brought in a creditable result.

With twice as many people voting as did in 2012 Chirs improved the Lib Dem vote share from 14% to 16% county-wide. The incumbent Tory was re-elected with with 42% of the first preference votes - down 4% compared to 2012. Labour similarly lost 2% of vote share.

Chris White held 3rd place and UKIP trailed in 4th once again.

As in 2012 the voting went to a second round to be decided by 2nd preference votes.

Counting was carried out in individual local authorities across Hertfordshire.

Although Chris came 3rd overall, locally he did much better. In Watford he topped the poll and in neighbouring Three Rivers he was in second place.
