Dacorum Borough Council is fresh-faced and in much better balance, since the local Lib Dems caused an electoral earthquake on 2nd May 2019!

Dacorum Lib Dem Group elected 2019In Dacorum Lib Dems gained 14 seats overnight to reach a best-ever group of 19 (pictured outside The Forum in Hemel).

The Conservative majority has been demolished from 41 in 2015 to just 11 now, with half of the previous Cabinet Portfolio-holders swept away, due to big wins in Boxmoor, Berkhamsted and Tring.

Roxanne Ransley is back as Mayor of Tring and Garrick Stevens, after half a lifetime of service to his town, is well-deserved in becoming Mayor of Berkhamsted.

Local Election results right across the East of England were excellent with Lib Dems picking up scores of seats, taking control of two councils, Chelmsford and North Norfolk and taking St. Albans into No Overal Control.

BIG IN BEDFORD, SUPER IN ST ALBANS, TOP IN THREE RIVERS

Lib Dem Cllr Dave Hodgson retained his position as Bedford Mayor for a fourth term, Cllr Chris White has taken over as Leader of St Albans District Council and Council Leader Sara Bedford further consolidated the controlling Lib Dem presence in Three Rivers, covering Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and the Langleys.

Now with 441 councillors in the East of England, Lib Dems held every council they defended in the country, with control of five councils and now the largest party on three others, including the Parliamentary Target Seat of St Albans. Lib Dems also have two Elected Mayors in the region, in Watford and Bedford.

Lib Dems Chair of the East of England Lib Dems Jo Hayes said:

"These fantastic results are directly down to the hard work and commitment of our supporters across the East of England region, from North Norfolk to St. Albans, Three Rivers and rising stars Dacorum in south west Hertfordshire.

"We are so proud of all our campaigners, thanks to them we have secured our best local election results ever and the new intake of councillors will make a real difference for their communities."
